HUB activities overview
HUB - Management activities
The HUB represents the managerial and administrative backbone of Space It Up, and serves as the consortium’s central administrative and coordination structure. Its role is to manage all cross-cutting activities that allow the project to function as a coherent, efficient and accountable ecosystem, despite the large number of partners, disciplines and funding lines involved. The HUB oversees the full spectrum of management and governance tasks. It coordinates the activities of all spokes and governing bodies, ensures compliance with ASI and MUR regulations, manages administrative procedures, and supports partners in navigating legal, contractual and reporting requirements. It monitors project progress, risks and timelines, ensuring that activities remain aligned with the technical and scientific objectives approved by the funding agencies.
From a financial perspective, the HUB handles accounting, budget oversight and fund distribution according to official guidelines, while ensuring transparency, traceability and adherence to European financial rules. It also plans mitigation strategies when risks or delays could affect the project’s financial or operational performance. On the strategic side, the HUB manages technology transfer initiatives, tracks research outcomes and TRL progression, and supports the consortium in identifying and responding to national and international funding opportunities. It promotes collaboration with industry, facilitates the creation of new spin-offs and start-ups, and enhances the project’s long-term impact within the Italian and European space ecosystem. The HUB is also responsible for communication, dissemination and training. It defines and maintains the project’s visual identity, operates the website and social channels, coordinates scientific dissemination, and organizes workshops, summer schools and doctoral activities for students and researchers. Additionally, it supervises intellectual property management, stakeholder engagement and SME involvement to ensure that results are properly protected, shared and exploited. Finally, the HUB guarantees proper data governance and open science practices, offering shared infrastructures for data storage and interoperability and monitoring adherence to responsible data-sharing principles.
