About Me
Francesca Esposito holds a degree in Physics and a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II. She is Director of Science at the INAF Astronomical Observatory of Capodimonte.
Her research focuses on Mars, the Moon, comets, Mercury, and other rocky bodies of the Solar System. Her activities include the development, testing, and calibration of flight instrumentation for space applications, field measurement campaigns, laboratory investigations, theoretical modelling, and the analysis of data from planetary missions.
Dr. Esposito contributed to the development of the GIADA instrument aboard ESA’s Rosetta mission and served as Principal Investigator of the DREAMS experiment on the Schiaparelli lander of the ExoMars 2016 mission. She is currently Principal Investigator of the Earth-Moon-Mars (EMM) project, a national initiative funded under Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
