Andrea Taramelli is Full Professor at the IUSS University of Pavia and a leading expert in Earth Observation, remote sensing, and environmental monitoring. He has coordinated numerous European, national, and international research projects funded by the European Commission, ESA, ASI, NASA, and NSF, focusing on satellite data processing, environmental intelligence, climate resilience, risk management, agriculture, and civil protection services.

In addition to his academic role, he serves as Deputy Rector for Societal Impact at IUSS Pavia and is actively involved in the governance of major Earth Observation initiatives at EU level including Copernicus, Destination Earth, and Italian level such as IRIDE and PRISMA. As Italy’s representative in several European Earth Observation Committee and coordinator of the Italian Copernicus User Forum, he contributes to shaping the adoption of space-based technologies for environmental and societal applications.

His work connects scientific research, innovation, and public policy, advancing the use of Earth Observation to address global environmental challenges and support sustainable development.
